I know your mother and teachers told you it is never good to cheat… but in this case these little helpers will assist you when the life of an admin gets tough.
If your just starting to cut teeth with the shell or are an old hat – everyone needs a reference tool that provides cut and paste commands to complete specific tasks.

Another very good Linux command line reference for common operations.

DeltaCloud = (Redhat{ ec2+RHEV-M+vmWare+… …)
Red Hat earlier this past week announced their new DeltaCloud Interoperability API Framework.
Many for the longest time thought Red Hat was going to be content sitting on the periphery of the cloud without taking a dive. The surgance of the DeltaCloud API framework solidifies Red Hat’s goal of building up developers with tools, scripts, and applications which can work together across the clouds – both public and private.

What I absolutely love however – is that Red Hat has released this as OPEN SOURCE using Ruby as the agent to drive the api onto clouds like EC2 as well as private offerings like VMWare and KVM (which comes as default now in RedHat and other Linux kernels).
RedHat was also the team behind Libvirt – a toolkit to interact with the virtualization capabilities of recent versions of Linux (and other OSes) – also Open Source.
While the initiation of a new open source project within Red Hat is certainly not news something of this caliber is great news for the entire Cloud community. DeltaCloud Demo
Deltacloud gives you:
- REST API (simple, any-platform access)
- Support for EC2, RHEV-M; VMWare ESX, RackSpace coming soon
- Backward compatibility across versions, providing long-term stability for scripts, tools and applications
Best Buy + Microsoft = Linux Poo

I walked into Best Buy and noticed they literally have NO Linux notebooks available (unless you count the Mac Systems … which are kinda like linux…) anyhow – I asked a few representatives about Linux – and each basically told me the same thing.
- “Linux Sucks”
- “No one uses Linux any more – its not secure…”
- “Are you serious – you should not pay attention to those people who say linux is safer than windows – don’t believe the hype its all the marketing dollars from folks who are jealous against Microsoft”
- “Linux won’t work with that iPhone you have in your hand… your best option is Windows 7 It will work better than even the mac stuff over there… They don’t let me sell that stuff – in fact no one here can – except 1 guy… that’s because he is the newest on the toten poll.”
- Linux is the cause of most every virus infection in the world – did you know that all of our Windows machines come with anti-virus – try getting that with a linux machine…
I asked repeatedly about Linux machines – and i was steered towards Windows every time. Amazingly – I could not find 1 linux machine in any of their stores…
I wonder if there is something more sinister with all their Anti-Linux Marketing – but the Anti-Mac marketing was horrible – especially when they have the Mac’s sitting in the store !
This reminds me about Clif Guy’s Best rather Worst Buy Experience.
