Wireless Police Dept.

Knock Knock

“This is your neighborhood Wireless Enforcement Officer… We regret to inform you to the violation …”

Imagine – you have paid a $300K or more to move into a 2 bedroom condo on a golf course near Tuscon Arizona – and the property management has made it mandatory for all residents to use wireless encryption.

Kinda makes me wonder – how effective will this be?

I on a monthly basis see churches who have their entire networks open to the world – due to a wireless access point installed and not locked down.

One church in South Jersey was a “Hot Spot” and was the safest church in the state during the late hours of the night. The local police department actually asked if they could have the login/password after the hotspot was locked down – seems they would camp out in the parking lot and spend hours keeping the Internet Safe vs. the streets in this Camden County Community…

Perhaps its time the wireless equipment makers do their part – and force the encryption be used right out of the box…
