Blame Apple’s Phil Schiller for GoogleVoice not being on the iPhone
Phil Schiller, senior vice president of worldwide product marketing with Apple played the key role in the decision to not allow the Google Voice App on the iPhone, according to the FCC’s release of Google’s confidential letter describing the events around the decision.
Google surprisingly had requested parts of the letter remain locked from public view forever – but withdrew their request after a few Freedom of Information Act lawsuits were filed.
Interestingly enough – the paper does not put to rest the suspicion that AT&T ( iPhone’s exclusive carrier in the US Market) had a hand in this decision – although AT&T denies any part.
Read the letter and make the decision for yourself – is Apple and AT&T playing games – is this anti-trust or were they really trying to help the end consumer.
